“OJO Images shoots for Compassionate Eye Foundation”

PRESS RELEASE – 18th DEC 2007

In the summer of 2007 OJO Images and Getty Images gave their support to the ‘Compassionate Eye Foundation’, a non-profit organisation established and run by a group of Canadian photographers. Royalties from the Foundation’s collection of images (represented by Getty Images) help provide educational opportunities, basic health services and economic development in poverty stricken areas of Guatemala and now also Africa.

OJO Images Chairman Chris Ryan says: “My daughter is 9 years old - healthy, happy and care free – and when I saw some of the images of very, very poor families in GuatemaIa, I couldn’t even begin to imagine how painful life was for these small children...we at OJO immediately wanted to try to help them.”

Ryan’s idea was to combine the talents of the Getty Images London creative’s and the OJO Images photographer teams for a one day charity shoot in London to add to the Foundation’s collection of images on the Getty Images site.

“We moved all our props, wardrobe items and equipment into two huge studios for the day” says Ryan “We had 5 teams of photographers, 5 Getty Images art directors, 72 models, 3 hair & make-up artists, stylists, in fact well over a 100 people in total. Logistically the shoot could have been quite challenging, but from the very beginning I had decided that we should all try to have a “freeform” approach. We had hundreds of ideas for image content written down, but we also created many images on the fly as models arrived. Everyone was outstanding and it worked perfectly. There was an amazing vibe going all day long and we created 216 great images for the charity….then went to the pub for a pint.”

These images are now creating funds for the Foundation and everyone at OJO is extremely proud of the achievements on that summer’s day.

"OJO Images expands Creative Team"

PRESS RELEASE – 17th September 2007

OJO Images, the independent premium royalty-free producer, announces the appointment of Emma Sutton to the role of Creative Director.
Sutton previously spent 7 years at Getty Images as senior Art Director developing their in-house Rights Managed and Royalty Free brands. Most recently she has spent a successful year working as a freelance Producer and Art Director for OJO Images, along with corporate and editorial clients.

Sutton will now head up the OJO Images creative team alongside former Jupiterimages Photo Editor Trevor Ausbruch.

“OJO Images is totally focused on offering exceptional imagery that differentiates, imagery that truly stretches the boundaries between Royalty Free and Rights Managed” said Jonathan Gibson, co-founder of OJO Images. “We provide our distribution partners with imagery that helps set them apart from microstock and mediocrity and to do this we invest in production values that are normally reserved for rights managed shoots. The creative team that we have built has the experience and talent to steer this high end creative strategy.”

Aside from driving OJO Images wholly owned production efforts - see some OJO shoots in action on OJO TV – the creative team are also assembling a select group of contributing artists who will add to OJO Images’ high-end content.

"We place a high importance on building strong relationships with our contributors by encouraging open communication between them and the OJO creative team. We support those contributors we choose to take on board by developing shoot concepts, giving valuable creative feedback and sharing our creative research. This will create the most successful results for them, for OJO and for our distributors,"

said Emma Sutton, Creative Director of OJO Images.

“Jonathan Gibson takes on a new image - OJO Images”

PRESS RELEASE – 16th April 2007

Jonathan Gibson this week announces the launch of an exciting new and independent premium royalty-free company, OJO Images.

After 16 years in the international stock business, Gibson has joined forces with a group of the world’s most acclaimed photographers to produce this high-end, wholly owned premium royalty-free collection.

“OJO Images brings together a group of professionals with a vision to create a brand new standard of product and service. Our emphasis is on quality and depth of quality, and these images represent our desire for OJO Images to be the ultimate in royalty-free imagery.”

Gibson previously spent 6 years at Dynamic Graphics and Jupiterimages, managing Jupiterimages royalty-free, rights-managed and subscription brands through the global distribution channel. He most recently served as Vice President of Distributor Sales until leaving the company in April 2007.

With OJO Images, Gibson will deliver a collection of more than 7,000 images across 70-plus VCD titles in 2007, with production planned to bring it to 15,000-plus images over the next 18 months. His vision for OJO Images is to be the best at everything they do.

“OJO Images angle on the RF market is quite simple. To produce the best images you have to have the best photographers shooting with the highest possible production values. This is OJO’s focus – to create fewer images but ones that sell more often.”

Gibson has good reason to be confident. OJO Images has recently signed distribution agreements with Getty Images and Masterfile to begin distributing their creative imagery in the near future, much of which he attributes to the quality of photographers already onboard.

These include: best-selling lifestyle photographer’s Chris Ryan, Robert Daly and Chris Newton; award-winning fashion and people photographer Matt Hind; multi-award winning concept photographer Martin Barraud; renowned business image creator Justin Pumfrey; all talent at the top of their game.
OJO Images is not stopping there and is now looking for distributors on a global basis to represent the brand. Knowledge, experience, skill and the ability to create pictures that do one thing time after time – sell – is what’s on offer, along with the ability to generate greater income per image and greater income per slot. ‘OJO’ is Spanish for ‘eye’ and soon buyers will be seeing the difference.

For more information about OJO Images or to preview the new collection please contact jgibson@ojoimages.com (www.ojoimages.com) or visit the OJO Images table at the CEPIC conference in Florence 7/8/9th June, 2007.
